FAQs
ABOUT THE BRAND
He really is deeply involved and this really is his beer, born from a classic farmers’ predicament of having a mountain of malting barley and nothing to do with it. Rather than let it go to waste, he realised it would be perfect for creating beer and got in touch with the Cotswold Brew Co. right on his doorstep to start making his own lager. Jeremy provided the vision (and the original barley that set our standard for high quality), while The Cotswold Brew Co. brought the brewing genius and so Hawkstone was born.
The first batches were made with Jeremy’s barley but demand was so high Diddly Squat simply couldn’t keep up. So, we now partner with hard-working farmers across Britain to source the highest quality malted barley, allowing us to back British farming on a national scale.
It’s true, Kaleb would rather swim in slurry than drink lager but that’s okay because he loves cider and worked with our master cider makers to create a medium-dry cider that’s made the proper way, not from concentrate, and authentically British. He’s our official Cider Ambassador because, despite spending a lot of his time at the back end of animals, his sense of taste is surprisingly good.
It’s actually THE Hawkstone and it’s a Neolithic standing stone located not far from Jeremy’s farm in the Cotswolds. It’s been part of the landscape for thousands of years so it symbolises endurance as well as being stoutly and immovably British. All in all, it seemed like the perfect thing after which to name our beer.
ABOUT OUR BREWS
We say that because, well, it is. In a world that favours cheaper, faster and worse, we take a different path. A much longer one. We use only high-quality British-farmed barley not the cheap imported stuff, and that means we’re at the mercy of the cruel British weather. We then brew for longer, specifically in the part of the process called lagering. This is expensive and time-consuming but it gives a smoother, better flavour which is why we do it. None of this is the easy way, but it is the best.
Our entire regular range of lager, cider, IPA, and session lager is vegan-friendly.

Our cider is naturally gluten-free. Our lagers, however, are made from barley, which contains gluten. Obviously. Glad you asked. Our original is Premium Lager which is 4.8% and has a bold, balanced taste. It’s a proper, proud British lager. Our Session Lager is 4.0% and has a lighter, biscuity flavour. As the name suggests, it’s perfect for a long session. Then we have our IPA which is 4.8% and gives you a hit of hops with bursts of tropical and citrus fruit, all in perfect harmony. Finally, there’s Hawkstone Zero which is our low alcohol beer and just 0.3%. Perfect for when you want great taste but you also have lots of stuff to get on with later.
SUPPORTING BRITISH FARMING
The first thing we do is buy British, and from all over the country. It started with barley from Diddly Squat but as Hawkstone grew, so did our mission. We now source our top-quality malting barley and freshly-pressed apples from a wide network of brilliant farmers all over the UK. We’re also buying British hops and, in doing so, helping to reverse years of decline that forced many farmers to rip up their hop yards. We couldn’t stand by and let that happen so we’ve made a commitment to brew every single drop of beer using only British hops within the next five years. More Hawkstone sold means more British crops bought. It’s that simple.
Beyond that, we support farmers themselves. Farming is tough work and the hard graft, isolation, and stress can take a massive toll on mental health. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Shout, a free and confidential 24/7 text support service. If any farmer is struggling, we want to make it as easy as possible for them to get help. If you need to talk, text HAWKSTONE to 85258.

Once your order has shipped, you’ll get a Yodel tracking number by email and/or to your mobile number. You’ll then be able to follow your order through their network until it’s delivered. It’s even easier if you download the Yodel app from the Apple or Android App Store. You can let them know you’re going to be out and to leave the package in a safe place of your choosing or with a neighbour. As long as they’re not a thirsty thief of a neighbour.

No, the bundles on our website are set cases and can’t be customised. If you want to build your own bundle you’ll have to buy the items separately. We only sell the tankards within bundles and at the moment we don’t have plans to sell them separately.

We accept returns up to 14 days after delivery. If the item is unused and in its original condition, we’ll refund the full order amount minus the shipping cost for the return.

AGE VERIFICATION
We are required to ensure that our products can only be purchased by those of a legal age to do so. Under UK law, it is illegal to sell or supply alcohol to any individuals under the age of 18. To make sure that our customers are of a legal age to buy our products, we require them to confirm their age when placing an order.
To make this process as seamless and accurate as possible, we use AgeChecked, the UK government-approved age verification service. We use the details you provide when placing an order, like your name and address, to automatically verify your age.
On the rare occasion the initial check cannot be completed automatically, a pop-up will be displayed where you will be asked for additional information on the order summary page. If we cannot confirm your age your order will not be processed.
AgeChecked do not store any personal data collected during the verification process. Customer information is anonymised and used only to complete the check. Your data will not be shared with any third parties.

Becoming a Hawkstonian is about more than getting beer delivered. Although obviously it’s about that too. But it also means joining the inner circle and becoming part of a subscription club for our most loyal fans. You sign up for regular deliveries of our lager or cider, and in return, you get many glories including first dibs on all our new, limited-edition brews, exclusive discounts on merch and more, and invitations to our legendary Hawkstonian Sessions at the brewery. Plus, it’s the easiest way to make sure you never run out of the good stuff.
To become a Hawkstonian, simply select the Hawkstonian subscription option on your favourite drink and then head to the checkout. When you buy a subscription, you’ll receive repeat deliveries as often and for as long as you select. Note that all subscriptions have a minimum of three (3) charges and deliveries.

BREWERY TOURS
If you want to see where the magic happens our website is the place to book a brewery tour. You’ll get a guided tour of the whole operation, see how we turn the best British ingredients into liquid gold, and finish up, of course, with a tasting of the freshest Hawkstone in the world. The tours are incredibly popular and book up fast, so it’s best to plan ahead.
Head over to our Brewery Tour Page and scroll to the brewery tour section to see available dates.
Any cancellation requests submitted 14 calendar days or more before the date of your tour are entitled to a full refund. Any cancellation requests submitted 7 calendar days before the date of your tour receive a 50% refund. Unfortunately, any cancellation requests submitted fewer than 7 calendar days before the date of your tour are not entitled to any refund.
Unfortunately, our brewery tour is not wheelchair accessible. As part of the very structure of the brewery there are uneven floors, steps, and exposed pipes which currently make safe access difficult for wheelchair users.
We are unable to allow children or dogs on our brewery tours. It’s a working environment full of moving machinery and restricted areas and it isn’t suitable for young visitors or pets so only adults over 18 are allowed. However, children and pets are welcome to wait with an adult in the Hawkstone Arms.
For private tours of parties of 12 or over, please email us at [email protected]. If booking a private tour for fewer than 12 people, a surcharge may be applied. For people on the tour we offer a 10% discount on Hawkstone products (but not on Diddly Squat products or at the various food trucks on site).
